Littleton and Ayer Spectacle Pond Association is a non-profit organization of area residents. Our primary goal is to maintain or improve the natural beauty, recreational potential and environmental health of Spectacle Pond and its surroundings.

Areas of interest for the Association include maintenance of clean water, preservation of rural and residential aesthetics, and the maintenance or improvement of private and public aquatic recreation. We are dedicated to the wise use and proper management of water, wildlife and related natural resources in Spectacle Pond and its connecting waterways.

The work of the Association also includes establishing and promoting programs of public information as well as education and scientific research related to the aims of this association, and performing any appropriate related activity to improve the physical aspects of our pond area and further the recreational enjoyment of area inhabitants.

The intent of this website is to allow anyone to investigate events and public incidents that have affected this area and our pond. We will post photographs, narratives or summary data that help meet this goal with the understanding that every effort will be made to respect the privacy of individuals and their families. Boat Launch Cleanup, Meeting and Picnic, Saturday, August 26, 2000

Spectacle Pond Association sponsored a cleanup of the public boat launch at route 119 before our picnic on August 26th. Gary's Farm donated some flowering perennials to help beautify the boat launch area (Thanks, Gary!). SPA members planted them and cleaned up accumulated trash. Chris Carlson also graded the ramp to make launching boats easier and less dangerous (Nice job, Chris!) Have a look at some pictures: Cleanup Pictures

Afterwards, we all met at the Schultz's for a picnic and an informative presentation by Carl Neilson of ESS on the water quality study that's being done with the $20K in grant money.
